Not all ballet net is created equal. For classical tutus I use stiff Italian ballet net, for bell tutus a mixture of stiff net and softer net and for Romantics soft net and tulle. The range of colours available for ballet net, whatever type, can be very limited. Hand-dyed net adds a deeper dimension to the ballet skirt and enable a better match to bodice fabrics. It also allows a finer gradation of colour in multi-coloured skirts, and sets your tutu apart from others that use ballet net from the standard range of colours available.
